Feeling empowered
The level of attention paid to every detail at Pippsway is far higher than I have ever known. We may be sitting having a cup of tea and yet if a horse isn’t standing square it is corrected. This is a very important point and again something I never knew. If a horse is being groomed, washed or worked with in any way it must be standing on all four feet. Otherwise, in the horses mind, he is ready to take flight at any moment. I always thought if a hind leg was resting the horse was just relaxed……..not so! The body language of horses is something I had never really been taught before and it is difficult to put on paper as not only what the horse is doing but why and how he is doing it all have to be considered.
Suffice to say whilst I may very well have paid for an hour’s lesson, I learn far more on each visit than is imparted within that hour. Pip empowers her clients. She gives them information in such a way that in the fullness of time they themselves will be able to discern what needs to be done instead of having to rely on someone else having to tell them. You learn not just what to do but also why you are doing it.
I am so thrilled to have found Pippsway. I am very excited about this journey. I honestly believe I will one day be at one with my horse in the way I have only dreamed of. This lofty goal no longer seems so lofty. It is within reach for every single one of us. All we have to do? Apply Pip’s way of working to our every interaction with our horse. Not to become a version of Pip but because we will truly understand our horse and how to work with him, not against him, and to bond with him on such a level that we have his trust. To allow our horse to be a horse.
